The gallery

Travel, through works of art

Max Bial is an online gallery devoted to the art of travel: harbours and crossings, the painters' Orient, China and Japan, the shores of Brittany. Works of the 19th and 20th centuries, unearthed across Europe and Asia, chosen one by one.

Behind every acquisition, the same work: verifying the hand, the seal, the provenance — and presenting only what deserves it. The gallery is based in Puteaux and Saint-Malo; the works travel, as they should, to the whole world.
